Flow rate determination of Pad Filter
Pads: 40 x 40 cm = 1.5 square feet of filtering surface area per pad.
Determine volume of wine and time to filter tank.
Maximum flow rate of (30) gallons per hour per pad (=20 gph per sq ft)
3,000 gallons to be polish filtered in (4) hours = 750 gals per hour
750 gals/hr / 30 gph/pad = 25 pads needed for the filter
Polish pads are plugged when differential pressure is (30) psig.
Polish Pad Filtration Equation:
(Total Gallons to be filtered / hours to filter tk) / (30) = no of Pads
Maximum flow rate of (15) gallons per hour per pad (=10 gph per sq ft)
1,000 gallons to be sterile filtered in (4) hours = 250 gallons per hour
250 gals/hour / (15) gals/hr/pad = 16.7 pad or 17 pads needed for the filter
NOTE: STERILE PAD DIFFERNTIAL PRESSURE TO BE LESS THAN (15) PSI OR FILTRATION IS NOT STERILE.
